June 6, 2000
My name is Jerry Davis. I am an engineer with the Oakland Fire Department. I had an accident at work on September 13, 1999 that caused severe neck pain and numbness in my left arm. I also felt as if cold water was trickling down my jaw and as if I was carrying a lot of weight around my neck and shoulders.
I went to see Dr. Stanton Schiffer, who ordered a cervical spine MRl. The MRI showed a disc protrusion at C5-6 and Dr. Schiffer recommended a one level cervical endscopic discectomy. I had the surgery on January 25, 2000. Soon after the surgery, I got total relief from the pain and numbness.
I went back to light duties on April 10, 2000 and plan to start regular duties on July 2000 as a Fire Fighter Engineer.
If anyone wants to contact me regarding my surgical experience, I can be reached at (510)581-7474.
Sincerely,
Jerry Davis
